The Bisons responded in a big way on Sunday, delivering a statement win by handing 17-time national champion Carleton its first loss of the season - a commanding 94–70 victory that marked the Ravens’ largest defeat to a Canadian school in 25 years!
Manitoba came out focused and energized, building a 23–14 lead after the opening quarter. Unlike their previous outing, the Herd maintained their momentum throughout, stretching the margin to 47–28 at halftime and 72–49 after three quarters.
The Bisons’ offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 50% from the field and an impressive 52% from beyond the arc.
Coach Schepp credited smarter ball movement and decision-making for the turnaround:
“Carleton is perennially one of the top defensive teams, so we really needed to move the ball to generate better shots. We did that today, and the results speak for themselves.”
Mason Kraus bounced back in style, pouring in a game-high 30 points. Rookie standout Ramogi Nyagudi added 20 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting, including a perfect 4-of-4 from three.
Daren Watts capped off a strong tournament with a well-rounded performance of 10 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds, while Sam Jensen chipped in 11 points.
Fittingly, both Kraus and Watts were named tournament All-Stars, a strong finish for the Herd as they head into the rest of the preseason.
