The Herd Hoops Club
The Herd Hoops Club is a community of former players, coaches, team staff, and supporters of the University of Manitoba Bisons Men’s Basketball Program.
The Herd Hoops Committee serves as the leadership group for the Club and is made up of Bisons Men’s Basketball alumni, along with current Head Coach Kirby Schepp. The Committee’s mission is to support the Bisons Men’s Basketball Program and to strengthen the connection among alumni and supporters.
What We Do
The Herd Hoops Committee leads initiatives that celebrate the program’s history, engage alumni, and enhance support for current Bisons student-athletes.
Current activities include hosting special events such as the Annual Alumni Meet the Team / Family Fun Event and Annual Alumni Night. The Committee also manages the Herd Hoops Honour Roll (launching in the 2025–26 season) to recognize notable alumni contributions, and publishes the Herd Hoops Club Newsletter while maintaining a dedicated website to share stories, updates, and achievements.
In addition, the Committee coordinates fundraising and donor recognition through individual donations and corporate partnerships, supports an Alumni Mentorship Program that connects current players with former Bisons, and organizes special presentations at Bisons home games to celebrate alumni and team milestones.
To ensure the Club’s long-term sustainability, the Committee maintains formal bylaws and elects executive officers.

The Herd Hoops Committee is currently seeking donations to help cover ongoing operational expenses, including the Annual Honour Roll Induction Ceremony, Mailchimp newsletter subscription, website hosting, stationery, printing, and other administrative costs.
Your contribution directly supports the Club’s efforts to honour the program’s legacy, build community among alumni, and strengthen the foundation for future generations of Bisons basketball.
