The Manitoba Bisons pulled off a gritty 85-71 overtime victory against the Brandon Bobcats in a defensive slugfest on the road.
Mason Kraus led the charge for the Herd, delivering a stellar performance with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Kraus was highly efficient, shooting 9-of-14 (64%) from the field and 7-of-10 (70%) from the free-throw line.
Brandon's relentless ball pressure caused havoc for Manitoba, forcing a season-high 27 turnovers.
“We were sloppy. Brandon’s defensive pressure disrupted our rhythm and took us out of our offense at times.” - Coach Kirby Schepp.
Despite the turnovers, the Bisons found an edge with their shooting. Manitoba hit 46% of their shots from the floor, compared to Brandon’s 32%. However, free-throw shooting proved to be a challenge, as the Bisons converted just 15 of 32 attempts (47%).
Manitoba will face Brandon again tonight in a crucial rematch. To secure back-to-back wins, the Bisons must improve their free-throw accuracy and minimize turnovers.
