It’s always special when Bison alumni make the effort to reconnect with the program — and Lorne Dunn did just that last weekend.
Lorne drove from Ottawa to Montreal to watch the Bisons play both games of their pre-season trip. He learned about the Montreal games through the Herd Hoops newsletter and connected with Head Coach Kirby Schepp to confirm the game times.
Lorne thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see the Herd in action and reconnect with the program.
“I want to thank Kirby for taking the time to meet and talk with me at both games. He also asked to have pictures taken with me and one of the players, which I really appreciated. I enjoyed both games and thought the team played better in the second one, so I’m confident the improvement will continue. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful.”
Lorne’s connection to Bison basketball goes back nearly 70 years. He entered Electrical Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 1957, graduating in 1961, and played three seasons with the Junior Bisons.

A sincere thank you to Lorne for making the drive to Montreal and supporting this young Bison team.
It’s connections like these, spanning generations of Bison basketball, that make our alumni community so special.
