Ross Wedlake Honoured for Preserving Manitoba Basketball History

The Herd Hoops Club proudly congratulates Bisons alumnus Ross Wedlake on receiving the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Historical Preservation and Promotion, presented at a ceremony held at Government House on May 8, 2026.

Presented by the Honourable Anita Neville, the award recognizes Manitobans who have made outstanding contributions to preserving and promoting our province’s history and heritage.

Ross received this prestigious honour in recognition of his exceptional leadership as Chair of the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame, where he has dedicated countless hours to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the rich history of basketball in Manitoba.

Through his efforts, Ross has helped ensure that the stories, accomplishments, and contributions of generations of Manitoba basketball players, coaches, and builders are remembered and honoured.

A proud Bisons alumnus, Ross continues to demonstrate the same commitment to teamwork, excellence, and community that defined his time as a student-athlete. His passion for preserving the legacy of the game has had a lasting impact on basketball throughout our province and has helped strengthen the connection between past, present, and future generations.
