Bisons Alumni Leading the Way at the Provincial Level!

 Five members of the Manitoba Bisons basketball family are making a strong impact at the provincial level as coaches. Each brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the program—and they’re all proud Bisons!



Leadership Behind the 17U Male Provincial Team Coaching Staff:


Dan Becker - Head Coach

Bisons Assistant Coach (2000-04), Interim Head Coach (2004-05)

A Manitoba Basketball Hall of Famer, Dan brings over 30 years of playing and coaching experience, including professional stints in the CBA and overseas. He has lead multiple Provincial Teams and currently serves as Technical Director for Basketball Manitoba.

Scott Martin - Assistant Coach

Bisons Player (1984-87)

Scott brings strong coaching experience from multiple competitive levels. He has led programs at Sisler High School and now coaches at Canadian Mennonite University, where he focusses on player development and tactical execution.

Thendo Magugumela - Assistant Coach

Current Manager, Bisons Men’s Basketball Team

Originally from South Africa, Thendo is a rising leader in the basketball community. He has worked with the Jr. Bisons Boys team and the varsity team at Pembina Trails Collegiate.




Leadership Behind the 14U Male Provincial Team Coaching Staff:


Keenan Benarroch – Head Coach

Bisons Player (2014-17)
A former U of M Bison and assistant at Toronto Metro University, Keenan helped coach TMU to an undefeated season and national title. He’s also supported Canada Basketball’s 3x3 Olympic Qualifier team.

Elijah Lostracco – Assistant Coach

Bisons Player (2020-23), Bisons Assistant Coach (Current)
A former Bisons captain and pro player, Elijah now serves as a full-time assistant at U of M, focusing on player development, scouting, and recruiting.
