Bisons host UBC in CanWest Semifinal Saturday, March 1st (7pm)

 

Manitoba vs. UBC – How They Match Up! The Manitoba Bisons compete in the Canada West Prairie division, while the UBC Thunderbirds play in the Canada West Pacific division. Over the past five seasons, the Bisons and Thunderbirds have faced off only twice, both in January 2024. UBC won both matchups by narrow margins, 93-90 and 85-76. This season, UBC has been a dominant force, consistently ranked in the national top five and reaching as high as No. 2 for four weeks. They currently hold the No. 5 spot. Meanwhile, Manitoba has fluctuated in and out of the top 10, peaking at No. 7—where they currently stand. In the Canada West playoffs, Manitoba secured the No. 2 seed with a 16-4 record, while UBC entered as the No. 3 seed with a 15-5 record. Both teams battled through tight quarterfinal victories, with UBC edging out Winnipeg 74-72 and Manitoba overcoming Thompson Rivers 70-67.
